A “Special Enrollment Period” is available for individuals to enroll in a health insurance plan outside of “Open Enrollment,” as long as they can prove they qualify. Qualifying life events that allow individuals to enroll during this time are events that have occurred within the last 60 days such as losing coverage from an employer, moving to a new service area, marriage, having a baby, etc. You can view a more detailed list of what is considered a “qualifying life event” here – Qualifying Life Events. If any of these situations apply to you or if you have questions about qualifications, please reach out to us and ask as many questions as you need!
Anyone can enroll in health insurance during open enrollment, which begins November 15th. If you enroll by a certain date, your coverage will be effective as follows:
November 15, 2020 – December 15, 2020 = Coverage begins January 1, 2021
December 16, 2020 – January 31, 2021 = Coverage begins February 1, 2021
Individual and Family health insurance costs are based on two things – your age and zip code. Regardless of the agency or broker you seek help from, the cost of insurance plans will be the same. Even if you go directly to the insurance carrier, the cost of plans will be the exact same as the quotes we provide. Then, depending on what level of plan you’re interested in (i.e. high/low deductible, PPO, HMO, etc.), your cost will be determined by that factor as well.
If you choose us as your agent, we will help you every step of the way – generating the quote, helping you complete the application, and reviewing your plan options during your annual renewal time. We also explain insurance terms to you and breakdown what they mean so you’re not confused by what you’re paying for. We like our clients to be confident and informed when making their decisions with us. If you ever have issues with claims or anything else related to your policy, we can act on your behalf by making phone calls to the designated broker lines we have access to so you aren’t on hold for countless hours. We know which questions to ask and which numbers to call. If we don’t have the answers, we use our resources to find them.
To get started you will need your Modified Adjusted Gross Income (MAGI) from 2017; in most cases this will be the equivalent of your Adjusted Gross Income (AGI). Then, follow the steps below to apply and select California Well Being as your representative.
